Planning a Disney Cruise
Flights and Car rental
So after picking our kids up from school, it was time for the 6 of us to head to the airport for our flights. We were flying Southwest from OKC to Dallas Love Field to Orlando. We checked in exactly 24 hours before our flight, and we still all got early B numbers. Does anyone get A’s without paying for it nowadays? Our daughter just turned 7 so this was our first time not being able to use family boarding. Even with B’s we were all able to grab seats next to and behind each other in rows 20 and 21.
We were delayed about 30 minutes before boarding and we only had an hour connection in Dallas. I knew the flight was booked at 65 minutes, but in reality its only about 40 minutes. We landed in Dallas with about 20 minutes before our next boarding and had B numbers once again. We were a lil worried if we would be able to grab dinner, have bathroom breaks, and be back in time for boarding. Luckily we landed at gate 5 and we were boarding right next door at gate 3. So we were able to do all this with 5 minutes to spare.
Boarding started on time and this flight was not full. There was 6 of us and we tried to take up 3 rows by leaving the middle seats open in rows 19 and 20. Unfortunately for my wife and daughter, a person needed that seat so my wife ended up in the middle for the 2 hour flight. Nothing a lil drink voucher cant help with though.
This flight was operated by a newer 737-800. While its not fancy, the Boeing Sky Interior really and new seats make it seam snazzy. Wifi was available for purchase or you could watch live TV for free. I ended up watching X-Men on FX and falling asleep. My son next to me read a book for about 30 minutes and then played on his IPad the rest of the time.
Our checked bags were available relative quickly on then off to AVIS rent a car. I love it when car rental agencies are on sight and that is what its like in Orlando! We rented a mini-van and as a Presidents Club member I always hope to to get an upgrade. Through the Avis app I was offered a Ford Explorer, Ford Flex, or a GMC Traverse. While I could have gone inside and asked for a Suburban, I decided just to keep our Chrysler Pacifica minivan for the 6 of us. They also had no larger cars in their premium select and go aisle. Our Pacifica had plenty of room.

Avis was very quick and there were no problems or lines to get out. Being a preferred member (or Presidents Club or Chairmans club) where you just walk up to your car and leave is definitely nice. The lines for all the rental cars inside seemed long. After this, it was off to our VRBO!
