FAMILY OF 4 SKI TRIP WITH FLIGHTS AND HOTEL FOR UNDER $1,550 at BRIGHTON SALK LAKE CITY UTAH

Over spring break, our family of 4 went on a 5 day ski trip to Salt Lake City and ended up skiing 3 days at Brighton. We had a few things going for us that really helped out with expenses. One is a large travel voucher that I had for being downgraded on a flight in Nov. (read abut that here) Two is a Marriott Certificate that I had from redeeming a bunch of Marriott points last March. (read about that here)

Even though we had a travel voucher and Marriott Certificate that helped, you can often find flights for 25k Delta points round trip to SLC, and Marriott’s around 15k points a night in the SLC area.

Since we were staying a Residence Inn, we bought $70 of groceries. This fed us several meals and we made several lunches for the mountain. We went out for one lunch in Park City, and one dinner at Cafe Waves down the street from our hotel, which  also gave us some good leftovers.

Buying groceries and packing a lunch for the mountain can definitely help save quite a few bucks.

The biggest expense was the actual lift tickets and ski lessons. That was $706 and you can read about that here. Ski rental which was $250 for 3 days for 4 people. SkiNSee has several locations in the Salt Lake City area. They have competitive prices and offer good discounts when reserving a head of time.

The other big expense was our car rental which was a big ole Toyota Sequoia. This was $332 and about $52 in gas. We rented through Avis in which I am a president club member and can get decent rates.

Overall this is what our spending looked like. Not too bad for a ski vacation!

Rental Car Toyota Sequoia $332
Gas for rental $52
Lift tickets and 2 lessons $706
Ski rental $250
Groceries $70
Wine/Beer $40
1 Lunch in Park City $50

I love to travel, I love to get a good deal, and I love to negotiate. Of course after God, family, and friends, or even better when its with them.
